I recently found a short video of the Flyer on Youtube! My great-great grandfather John Pratt emigrated to Ontario in the late 1800s and help to found the Seabreeze Community Church, where he is buried. The views shown in the video must have been a familiar sight to him. I'd love to come for a visit one day.

Hi Uncle Russell, I was browsing through our Family website and thought I'd pop by. Loved the book, your website is amazing. Ron and I really enjoyed the tour you gave us a couple of years back. We're very proud of what has been accomplished by you and everyone else who just rolled up their sleeves and pitched in. Great job!

Found us by: I tripped over a rail. I just wanted to add my $.02 worth to Ken Andrews comments below. An 0-4-2 Porter used by Muskoka Wood Products until the late 1940's, looked much like the original 1888 Porters at the Portage. This engine was built in 1890 for Imperial Lumber Co. at Warren, Ont. Later it was used by Empire Lumber at Latchford, from where Muskoka Wood acquired it.

Like you, I'm a member of M.T.C. I worked "H" office (CNT) on Main Street there (boarding at 123 Main St.--opposite "HU" -- CN station) from June '49 to Jan. '50; looks like you have done marvellous restoring work! Did not Anglo Canadian Leather Co. (near CN station) also have narrow gauge equipment similar to The Portage Flyer? Ended my career in Windsor ("WR") CNT office in the late '50s. Hope to come for a 3-4 day visit this summer to your commendable creation! 73 Ken Andrews

I found a book review in Muskoka Magazine which I had picked up at the cottage life cottage show this weekend. Our parents took my sister and I for a holiday at Portage Lodge in the 40s. We rode the train more than once that week. Edward Dinniwell
